Hi, My laptop suddenly stopped working due to a power surge. When opened, the motherboard has a big Black mark as shown below.
Please help me know what the issue is? Is it only the power supply that is damaged or a bigger issue? I would be grateful if anyone could guide me if this is repairable in Ireland?
Thanks,

I just wanted to provide you a "heads-up" so you don't get your hopes up unduly on getting this fixed.
This is a burnt chip on the motherboard -- and HP does not remove and replace individual components on motherboards. What is more likely is that they would replace the entire motherboard.
But ... that would only be done if the part was defective -- and your problems falls under "accidental damage" -- which is NOT covered under the standard HP warranty.
So, if HP agrees to do this, they will most likely charge you a LOT to have it done -- possibly more than simply replacing the laptop.
So, when you contact HP, I would strongly suggest that you get a repair estimate from them so you can decide how much you are willing to spend to get this fixed. Also, get a time estimate for the work -- because nowadays, repair times run into weeks, not days.
Good Luck
