OMEN by HP - 17-an108nf
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

My laptop OMEN 17 periodically freeze (generally with the fan accelerating at max speed), and I'm forced to turn it down by using the power button and reboot it. I have not identified the cause, as it may occur while gaming or even when I'm not using any software. I've run many times the tests provided by the HP  hardware utilities, no errors were found...

So I wanted to upgrade the BIOS (my version is AMI F.09 of 04/24/2019), as I dont' see any other way. The  latest version F.18A of 08/24/2022 can be found on HP site, on support/driver page of my laptop. But the updater only work on windows 10 which was preinstalled when I bought it...  I've since updated the OS to Windows 11. The BIOS updater utility start, then a few seconds after the launch screen, it stops by itself (I've checked if my antivirus software was the problem, but even when I stop it, the bios updater won't start..)

So, is there a problem if I use the "USB method" to update my BIOS (as I've succeed to generate an USB key by using another laptop running on win10), or have I a risk that the latest version of BIOS i not compatible with Windows 11 ?

Thanks

Hello, FYI

Just updated my BIOS by using the USB Method on this page : HP Consumer Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) (Windows) | HP® Customer Sup...  I've created the USB key on a Win10 laptop, by downlading the updater related to my laptop on HP support pages.

It went smoothly, no problem identified, my laptop still works on Win 11. Don't know if my freezing problems are resolved, but i think the info could be usefull if other people on Win11 wanted to update their BIOS.

Regards
