I have a brand new HP Omen laptop and the **bleep** thing has periodic hangs! It freezes, then releases.  So irritating! I read that others are having the same problem. The current remedy is to return the laptop, which is a bummer. Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know if HP is working on a solution?

Hi @jeffdrake501,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Periodic Hangs on HP Omen Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Ensure that all drivers, particularly graphics and chipset drivers, are updated to the latest versions. Updating the BIOS can also resolve compatibility issues.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure Windows is fully updated. Sometimes hangs can result from incompatibilities that updates can resolve.

Perform System Diagnostics:

  • Use HP's built-in diagnostic tools to check for underlying hardware issues.

Review Startup Programs:

  • Disable unnecessary programs that start up with Windows, as they can hog resources and cause system hangs.

Check for Malware:

  • Run a comprehensive malware scan to rule out any malicious software causing the system to behave erratically.

Adjust Power Settings:

  • Review power settings to make sure the laptop is optimized for performance rather than battery saving or other settings that may throttle resources.

Test in Safe Mode:

  • Run the laptop in Safe Mode to determine if the issue is related to software. If the laptop doesn't freeze in Safe Mode, it might indicate a software conflict.

I hope this helps.
