Hello,
I bought my Omen in September 2017.
So far I have had no issues, except for the laptop turning off once, when I put it in sleep mode.
Two days ago I booted my laptop (graphic tablet and external screen were connected, it was also connected to power).
I opened a software and Chrome and both windows did not load, they were just white windows and I couln't close them.
I couldn't open the task manager either, nor the Windows bar. The laptop reacted to volume and screen brightness buttons but I couldn't click anything.
So I used the power button to shut it down but instead it went into sleep mode. I then couldn't get th elaptop out of sleep mode, it wouldn't react to anything I did, so I used the power button again to turn it off. Disconnected my tablet and screen and booted the laptop again. When it turned on this time, it took it about 15 minutes to react to any of my actions (the cursor would move but I couln't click).
I tried accessing the task manager multiple times, which only made the laptop slower, I guess. After quite a while finally, the task manager opened (5 times, cause I had tried accessing it so often) and all windows I had tried clicking on opened..
And then the laptop worked.
Today, two days later i was working on my laptop (beamer connected via HDMI) and after 2 hours touched my touchpad and the laptop immediately turned off. I turned it back on, tried booting the software (using the touchpad) and then when I touched the pad again, it turned off again.
Can anybody help me with this issue? I have no idea what is happening, wether this is a Windows or a hardware issue.
Thanks in advance.
Isabelle

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand the HP Omen shuts down randomly when in sleep mode and when using it as well,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Does the device get you an error message before or after it shuts down?
Have you attempted to update the BIOS, Chip-set and Graphics card?
(Click here to find and install the same, if you haven't done it yet)
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
I would request you to follow the below steps to capture and reply back with the error message/code to identify the issue and find a permanent fix:
-
In Windows, search for and open View advanced system settings.
-
In the Advanced tab, under Startup and Recovery, click Settings.
-
Under System Failure, remove the check mark next to automatically restart, and then click OK.
-
Restart the computer to apply the change.
-
The computer no longer restarts automatically when a blue screen error occurs.
For more details: click here
Please reply back with the error code as the issue is code specific and it would be rather easier to provide an accurate solution using the same.
Keep me posted,
If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.
