Recently ( past 1 month or so) got my HP OmniBook X Flip 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop and it has been super slow and unresponsive, barely any software on it. Since I got it have only installed Google Chrome, Discord and whatsapp on it and it is barely operating. I have performed a recovery and  re-installed the OS (at least 2 times) and it seems nothing works to resolve the issue. I would like any input on how to resolve this issue.

Hi @Houzikinmaru,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OmniBook X Flip 16-inch 2-in-1 laptop has become very slow and unresponsive, even with minimal software installed and after multiple OS recoveries. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check for Windows and HP Updates

Go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates and install all pending updates.

Then open HP Support Assistant → My devices → Updates and install all recommended BIOS, chipset, and driver updates.

Outdated firmware or drivers can cause serious lag and performance drops on new systems.

Verify System Performance in Task Manager

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Under the Performance tab, check CPU, Memory, and Disk usage.

If Disk usage stays near 100%, it could indicate a storage driver or indexing issue.

Check Power Mode Settings

Go to Settings → System → Power & battery → Power mode and set it to Best performance.

Laptops sometimes default to power-saving mode, which throttles CPU speed significantly.

Update the SSD and Chipset Drivers

In Device Manager, expand Disk drives and right-click your SSD → Update driver.

Also expand System devices and update any Intel Chipset or Management Engine Interface drivers.

These control how the processor and storage communicate — outdated versions can cause severe lag.

Disable Startup Programs

Open Task Manager → Startup apps and disable any unnecessary programs (like Discord auto-start).

Restart the system and observe the boot speed and responsiveness.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

Turn off the laptop, then power on and press Esc repeatedly.

Press F2 → System Tests → Extensive Test and run diagnostics on memory and storage.

If the SSD or RAM shows errors, it could explain the slowness.

I hope this helps.
