Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

My HDD died and I replaced it. I ran my laptops original HP Operating System DVD WIN 7 Pro and got the OS up. I ran Microsoft update and show  the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) was successfully installed. When I try to update from IE 8 to IE 11 I get an error that IE 11 is not supported by WIN 7. When I query Computer Properties I show WIN 7 Professional, no SP-1.

How do I get my HP OEM WIN 7 Pro to update to SP-1? When I try to download from Microsoft I get a "Your browser is out of date. Update to the latest version of Internet Explorer.

I need to up my HP WIN 7 Pro with SP-1, and install IE 11. How do I proceed?

I went back to Windows Update page and found "Update other Microsoft products. I downloaded and installed the two updates. One was Service Pack 1! Once that was installed and rebooted, I was able to update to IE 11.

Thanks,

Brian

Hi:

What I suggest you do is to use another Windows PC to download SP1 from Microsoft, copy the file to a usb flash drive.

Then copy the file from the USB flash drive to your notebook's hard drive and run it.

You want the last file listed...windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe

You have to run several updates before you can update to IE11.

I have found this guide to be of tremendous help with getting Windows update to work on W7...I didn't even need to refer to the advanced discussion section.
