I just purchased the new HP pavilion 15 eg2073cl from costco yesterday (i7-1255u 1.70 GHz, Intel Iris Xe graphics, 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, 41 Whr battery), and have noticed that it gets fairly hot just doing routine things like watching youtube (with headphones in), or even just idling on the desktop, even when it is on a flat tabletop. In addition, they advertise the battery life as 7.5 hours, but from testing it thus far, I am barely able to get 4 hours just doing the same tasks as above. Does anyone have the same problem or know of a fix? Like I said, the computer is literally brand new, and a battery test in HP support assistant indicates everything is working as it should.

Hi @richard375

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

I see that you are facing heating-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.

Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?

Since it is a new system, I would suggest you update all the drivers and then check if you are facing the same issue. Here is a link that will help: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers
