Hello friends:
I need to get the recovery disk for my laptop, a Pavilion DV7-6171ss. Because it turns out that I have updated the AIMP music player several times, and it won't let me run it. It tells me that the bass.dll library is missing.
The strange thing is that when I update it and tell it at the end of the installation to run it, it runs correctly. But when I close it and run it again, it never runs again because it tells me that the bass.dll library is missing.

Hi @Rayito71,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
To fix the issue with your HP Pavilion dv7-6171ss Entertainment Notebook PC and the missing bass.dll file for the AIMP music player, you have a couple of options:
1. Fix the Missing bass.dll Library
The error message indicates that the bass.dll file (which is required for audio playback) is missing or corrupted. You can try the following steps before resorting to a full system recovery:
- Reinstall AIMP Music Player: Uninstall the AIMP player from your system, then download and install the latest version from the official AIMP website. This should replace any missing or corrupted files.
- Download the bass.dll File Manually:
- Visit a trusted DLL file repository (e.g., DLL-files.com).
- Download the correct version of the bass.dll file.
- Copy it to the AIMP installation folder (usually in C:\Program Files (x86)\AIMP).
- You may also need to place it in C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows\SysWOW64 if you're using a 64-bit system.
2. Obtain the Recovery Disk
If you prefer to recover your system to its original state, you can request a recovery disk for your HP Pavilion dv7-6171ss:
- Contact HP Phone Support: HP might still offer recovery disks for older models like the Pavilion dv7. Reach out to HP support to inquire about purchasing a recovery disk or downloading recovery media for your laptop.
- Create Recovery Media (if possible): If your laptop can still boot, check if it has a recovery partition. You can use HP Recovery Manager to create a recovery disk or USB. Go to the HP Recovery Manager on your laptop and follow the steps to create the media.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
