HP Recommended

Hello,

I have an HP Pavilion Gaming 15 ec1008nh

Currently, the laptop is on BIOS version F.35. Since I bought it, I have been experiencing very poor performance:

  • CPU and GPU do not seem to run at their full potential.

  • The system throttles heavily even under light workloads.

  • Benchmarks and in-game performance are much lower than expected for the hardware.

I read that BIOS version F.27 allowed better performance control on this model, so I tried to rollback, but it seems impossible:

  • HP Support Assistant says the installation is “done” but the BIOS stays on F.35.

  • Running the downloaded BIOS installer manually fails with “failed to extract CAB”.

  • I created a FAT32 USB recovery stick: the recovery starts and says “System BIOS is being recovered”, but after reboot it’s still F.35.

  • The BIOS menu itself has no rollback option available.

👉 My questions are:

  1. Is it possible to rollback to BIOS F.27 on this Pavilion Gaming 15 model, or is it permanently blocked?

  2. If rollback is allowed, what is the exact procedure to successfully downgrade?

  3. If rollback is blocked, what solutions exist to improve performance on BIOS F.35? Right now the system is underperforming significantly compared to its hardware specs.

Thank you for your support,
