Pavilion 15z
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

New (<2 weeks) HP Pavilion has started shutting down when inactive instead of going into sleep mode.  It's powered (not running on battery) and I've checked all my power saving modes and all other settings I can think of.  All Microsoft and HP updates have been done.  It's not following my power saving mode because I changed 'inactivity' settings to be longer but if it's idle for 10-15 minutes (sorry, haven't an exact time), it shuts down.

@LTegl
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

To add or remove shutdown options, do the following:

  1. In Windows, search for and open Power Options.

  2. Click Choose what the power buttons do.

    Figure: Choose what the power buttons do

    Power Options window with Choose what the power buttons do highlighted
  3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.

    Figure: Change setting availability option

    Power Options System Settings with Change settings that are currently unavailable highlighted
  4. In the Shutdown settings section, make sure the check boxes next to the shutdown options you want to see in the shutdown options are checked.

    Figure: Sleep and Hibernate shutdown options

    Shutdown settings with Sleep and Hibernate checked and highlighted
  5. Click Save changes. The options you chose are now displayed in the shutdown options.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
