Temp goes over 80c even without doing any super demanding CPU tasks.
The ventilation is not blocked, the laptop is not dusty, and everything is fine and brand new.
Shouldn't be so hot.
Normally around 45 to 65c normal use, is too much for basic tasks.
Any suggestions? Or this is expected temp for this model...

Hi @007_Brazil,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
If your HP Pavilion Plus 14 Inch Laptop PC 14-Ey0000 is consistently reaching temperatures over 80°C without running demanding CPU tasks, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to address it:
Update BIOS and Drivers: Ensure that your laptop's BIOS and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, updates can improve thermal management and overall performance. Click here
Check Power Settings: Make sure your laptop is not set to high-performance mode all the time, as this can increase heat generation. Use balanced or power-saving modes when not performing demanding tasks.
Check Background Processes: Check for any background processes that might be using a lot of CPU resources. Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) can help you identify and close these processes.
Use a Cooling Pad: A cooling pad can help improve airflow around your laptop, which can reduce temperature levels.
Check for Malware: Malware or viruses can sometimes cause high CPU usage, leading to increased temperatures. Run a full system scan using your antivirus software.
Check Thermal Paste: If your laptop is still under warranty, it's best to contact HP support. If not, consider checking the thermal paste on the CPU. If it's dried out or not applied correctly, it can cause poor heat transfer and higher temperatures.
Reset Power Management: Sometimes, resetting the power management settings can help. You can do this by opening Command Prompt as an administrator and running the following commands:
Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date, as updates can sometimes include fixes for thermal management issues.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be a good idea to contact HP support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
