HP Pavillion x360 Convertible dh

My HP pavilion x360 is not charging and sometimes comes up with a "CMOS Checksum Invalid" prompt on turning on the pc.

Can any one help with this?

Thank you

Hi @achensmith,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

For the charging issue: May I know if the light next to the charging port lights up when you connect a charger?
May I know if have you tried any alternate chargers?

Next, see that your computer has proper settings. On Windows 10, you’ll do the following:

  • Click on Start, then look for the Power and Sleep Settings (this is called Power Options in older versions of Windows)
Click Change Plan Settings and review your battery and power savings settings for anything odd
Be on the lookout for potentially troubling battery settings. These can include settings that cause the computer to shut down at a low level, or that trigger sleep mode when you shut the lid or are inactive for a few minutes. Anything that would make your computer turn off, and therefore mimic a battery failure, should be adjusted.
  • Your battery driver may also be experiencing issues. Again, on Windows 10, follow these steps:
  • From the Start menu, look for Device Manager
Select Batteries and identify the driver for your battery
Right-click the driver and choose Update Driver
If the driver needs a newer version, it will update, and you can restart your computer
If you previously didn't get the charging symbol over the battery icon on your desktop toolbar, but it's showing now, this could have been the problem

During the startup process, the system performs a checksum test of the BIOS. If the checksum is incorrect, the BIOS is assumed to be corrupt and the system installs a hidden copy of the BIOS to correct the problem, and the startup process continues.

The following message displays for 15 seconds before the computer automatically reboots. You have the option of pressing enter to proceed without waiting 15 seconds.

Identifying the CMOS Checksum Error (502)

To resolve the CMOS Reset Error (502), restore the BIOS.

Press enter to restart the PC.

If the error displays after restarting, try to restore the BIOS using a USB drive. For more information, see the "Recover the BIOS using a USB recovery drive" section of the following:

For desktop computers, go to HP Desktop PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System).

For notebook computers, go to HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System).

If restoring the BIOS fails, It must be a hardware issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
