After a Windows 10 update today, an 'AccelerometerST.exe - System Error' window appears which states:

'The code execution cannot proceed because accelerometerdll.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem.'

This occurs with every reboot and start up of the machine.

How can I easily fix this problem?

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the version of HP 3D DriveGuard on the following link and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp81001-81500/sp81142.exe

Download and install the x64 version of 7-Zip on the link below.

http://www.7-zip.org/

When you've installed 7-Zip, open your Downloads folder, right click on the sp81142 package, select 7-Zip, select extract files and then click Ok.

Cut this newly extracted folder and paste it on your Desktop so it's easy to find.

When done, hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run window, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter.

In Device Manager, expand System devices, right click the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor entry and select 'Update Driver Software'.

In the following window, select 'Browser my computer for driver software' and then select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.

In the next window, click the 'Have Disk' button and then browse to the extracted  sp81142 folder you pasted on your Desktop.

Browse into the sub-folder InstallFiles, open the folder Win10, left click on the file accelerometer to highlight it and then click Open.

Click on 'Ok' and then click 'Next' and wait for the driver to install.

When done, click 'Close' and then click 'Yes' to restart the notebook.

I haven't found the file accelerometer

Hi,

I've double checked and the accelerometer driver file is definetely located in the sub-folder InstallFiles..Win10 when browsing to this location via device manager - all I can suggest is to try the procedure I posted previously again.

I had the same problem on a HP 15-p046na. I tried both the version from driver section (which is older - 6.0.28.1) and the latest (6.0.41) - and the issue persisted. I even updated to latest MV C++ as recomended in another topic - with no success. Though, i did manage to find a work around on my own - as in:

Go to your C: partition (the one where Windos is instaled by default) - and you should find a folder called "swsetup (it's where all the HP sowtware extacts its installers)". If the software of your NB works the same - you should find multiple folers inside - both for HP drivers and software - so search for the one belonging to HP 3D Driver Guard (the name will show - if you hover your mouse over the "setup" file - or if you click on it for instal). In my case - was in folder SP78033 (could be the same). Inside the folder and alongside the setup  - you should find another folder called "InstallFiles". Keep going deeper - till you reach amd64 folder - like so...

SP78033\InstallFiles\Win10\amd64

There you should find the "accelerometerdll.DLL". Copy the dll - and go to either...

C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard

or

C:\Program Files (x86)\HP

(i have both - _- apparently, the software developers - are not on same page about the naming of main folder for the HP software / besides those two - you have multiple scatered all over the place... though, that's more of a personal concern - cause i'm among those whom are not so fond of messy stuff... :S )

... and see where you'll find the "HP 3D DriveGuard" folder. Copy the accelerometerdll.DLL inside (AccelerometerSt should be there too) - and it should work. Or at least, this solution worked for me. Started having this issue after "windows 10 creators update".

Good luck! 🙂
