I just bought a brand new HP Pavilion laptop last week to replace a macbook. It is loaded with Windows. Already getting the message 'windows not responding'.
There are several problems.
The touchpad seems to be very sticky and I have to press hard to get it to work. There is a pause between my natural speed of typing (which is average) and the touchpad responding. I have fiddled with the setting to no effect. Sometimes it takes 3 or more clicks. I am already concerned that with so much pressure/repeated clicks, it is going to wear out quickly.
It is also very slow to load web pages. It just sits there doing nothing so I have to repeat my command.
Often also, when writing something, if I dont watch the screen, the touchpad guide on the screen jumps around and lands in the middle of a written sentence, hence jumbling up what I am writing.
The touchpad also is very sensitive andrepeatedly, when I touch it, it keeps going back from the screen I am in to a reduced view on the desktop. Its so annoying!
This is a brand new laptop - there are too many problems. Granted I used to use a macbook but these problems are not acceptable. Any views appreciated.

Hello @Mamcgr,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
With regards to the touchpad, I would go into Windows Settings > Touchpad and adjust the sensitivity and functionality. If you select Additional Settings, it should direct you to more detailed settings and perhaps Synpatics settings, or whatever vendor. I can't pinpoint the exact features you would see since I'm currently using a Precision touchpad so the settings aren't available to me.
Now concerning overall speed or responsiveness, I would personally remove all the bloatware and just go with a clean install of Windows 10, but that's just a personal choice.
Coming from a Macbook, yes these problems are probably quite surprising since you would have to be quite lucky to experience any of these issues in the Apple environment. Frankly, the quality control on some of the more affordable series of the consumer Windows laptops tends to have subpar quality control here and there. The majority of your issues seem to be hardware-related, which means not much can be done on our side, so requesting an exchange, if you're within that exchange/return period, is a viable option.
