I bought this laptop a couple years ago and hasn't been used much. I use it for tractor diagnostics mainly. It has never had issues but now it won't come on. The power light will come on but the screen will not. I've connected the laptop to another screen through and HDMI cable and screen isn't showing up there either. I've tried a hard reset where you pull the battery and go through all the steps and it still remains black with or without battery or on charger. Nothing I seem to do is helping and I'm hoping there's just something I'm missing.
EDIT:I also noticed the lights are not flashing under the back cover like they do on my other HP laptop when it's turned on. Computer did get wet about 1.5 Months ago but has been working great since.

@zachwest12345, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding a Black Screen on an HP Pavilion Laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP Pavilion laptop's screen remains black despite trying a hard reset, and it doesn't display on an external screen, it may indicate a deeper issue. However, you can try some additional steps to diagnose or possibly resolve the problem:
Check Power and Connections:
- Ensure the power adapter is correctly connected and functioning. Try using a different charger if available.
- Examine the power button light. If it blinks or shows any unusual behavior, it could be a sign of a problem.
Disconnect All Peripheral Devices:
- Disconnect any USB devices, external drives, and cables except the power adapter.
Perform BIOS Recovery:
- Try recovering the BIOS using the HP BIOS Utility:
- Turn off the laptop and plug in the charger.
- Press and hold the 'Windows + B' keys simultaneously while pressing the power button for 1-2 seconds. Release the power button but keep holding the others until you see something on the screen.
Check for LED Indicators:
- Look for any blinking LEDs that may provide error codes. Refer to the HP support site for LED error code meanings.
Inspect Hardware:
- Since you tried a hard reset by removing the battery, double-check if it's properly reinstalled and seated.
- If comfortable, reseat RAM (memory) modules and check if they are securely connected.
Attempt Safe Mode:
- Try pressing F8 repeatedly as you switch on the laptop to see if you can access Safe Mode when the system is powering up.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
