Hi
I wanted to reset my Windows 10 to factory settings. Everything goes ok until I'm asked about cleaning Trusted Platform Module (TPM). To accept I have to click F1 button and to reject F2 button. Detachable keyboard doesn't work. What should I do? I'm using the newest version of Windows 10 Pro.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
Firstly, I used my private license key to update to Windows 10 Pro. I think you should make it clear or disable this option in computer settings if this version is not supported.
Secondly, beacuse this operation was probably done without any drivers thats why alternate keyboard didn't work. This is only FYI.
Third, I clear wrote and also made it in bold letters that it's not the same screen as on my computer. And also the buttons I had to press F1 or F2. You should read more precisely. I encountered this problem few times in our discussion.
Finally, solution was simple. Press the F1 button. On detachable keyboard to press F1 you had to press Fn + F1 and that misguided me and probably I didn't try pressing correct button.
So thanks for your service. Please read more carefully in future. You can close this topic.

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand you need help with the windows factory reset,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Are you using the HP Recovery media to reset your windows to factory defaults?
If not, did you know that HP neither supports nor recommends using a retail copy of windows?
And If you don't have one, you could order it online: Click here for details.
While you respond to that, here's what you need to know about factory reset recommended by HP:
CLICK HERE FOR MORE STEPS AND INSTRUCTIONS.
(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)
That said, TPM is a part of the bitlocker encryption interface and isn't supported by consumer devices, however, here's a the basic help I could grab to make the best of the situation to help you out:
Turn the TPM off
If you want to stop using the services provided by the TPM, you can use TPM Management to turn off the TPM. If you have the TPM owner password, physical access to the computer is not required to turn off the TPM. If you do not have the TPM owner password, you must have physical access to the computer to turn off the TPM.
You can also turn off the TPM to simulate or test the BitLocker Drive Encryption recovery process.
To turn off the TPM
-
Open the TPM Management (tpmadmin.msc) snap-in.
-
In the Action pane, click Turn TPM Off to display the Turn off the TPM Security Hardware page.
-
In the Turn off the TPM security hardware dialog box, select a method for entering your owner password and turning off the TPM:
- If you have the removable media onto which you saved your TPM owner password, insert it, and then click I have a backup file with the TPM owner password. In the Select backup file with the TPM owner password dialog box, click Browse to locate the .tpm file saved on your removable media, click Open, and then click Turn TPM Off.
- If you do not have the removable media onto which you saved your TPM owner password, click I want to type the TPM owner password. In the Type your TPM owner password dialog box, enter your password (including hyphens), and then click Turn TPM Off.
- If you do not know your TPM owner password, click I do not have the TPM owner password, and follow the instructions provided in the dialog box and subsequent BIOS screens to turn off the TPM without entering the password.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer. Only change to Windows that I've made was the update from Home version (originally installed) to Pro version. I did a factory reset using Windows settings and as this reset proceed everything is removed. On the screen I can only see message like this
To select one of the option I have to press F1 or F2 button and keyboard (detachable) doesn't work. I can't load on Windows again.

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
I appreciate the details, that said, did you try using an external/alternate keyboard?
And since [Yes] is already highlighted, doesn't the enter key work?
Also, Windows 10 Pro is a commercial version of the OS and is not supported by HP any this scenario,
Please go ahead and use the HP Recovery Media to reinstalled to original OEM to resolve these issue, and in case the alternate keyboard works but the detachable doesn't, you may want to Contact HP to have the device either repaired or it's parts replaced as it could be a hardware malfunction.
