Hi all,
Product Description: | HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible PC 14-dy0000 (23S36AV) |
Product Number: | 3Y0L2EA |
My laptop will turn on (I see the white LED), but nothing comes on the screen.
Tried removing battery.
Plugging in directly.
Recovery mode does not seem to work etc.
I fear it may have turned off during an update, but not sure.
Can anyone offer assistance please?
Thank you

It’s frustrating when your HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible powers on but doesn’t display anything. Since Recovery Mode isn’t working, the issue could be related to BIOS corruption, display hardware, or a failed update. Here’s how to troubleshoot:
Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the power adapter and, if possible, remove the battery.
- Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning it on again.
Test with an External Display
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV using HDMI or VGA.
- Press Fn + F4 (or another function key) to toggle between displays.
- If the external display works, the issue may be with your laptop screen or internal connections.
Perform a BIOS Recovery
- Plug in the charger and turn off the laptop.
- Press and hold Windows + B + Power button together, then release after a second.
- Wait for about 40 seconds—if the HP BIOS Update screen appears, follow the instructions.
Check for Signs of Physical Damage
- Inspect the screen hinge and edges for any signs of wear or loose connections.
- If the screen flickers slightly, it could indicate a loose display cable.
Update Graphics Drivers (If External Display Works)
- If you can access an external monitor, update your graphics drivers via Device Manager.
- Alternatively, download the latest drivers from HP’s support page.
