Hi @RJEL,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion x360 - 14 laptop always boots into its BIOS every time you open the laptop, there are several potential causes and solutions to consider.

Check Boot Order Settings

  • Go to the BIOS settings by pressing Esc or F10 when you turn on the laptop.
  • Check the Boot Order under the "Boot Options" or "Boot" tab. Ensure that the boot order is set to prioritize the internal hard drive (HDD/SSD) over other devices like USB or network boot.

Save BIOS Settings

  • If the boot order or settings were changed, ensure you save them before exiting the BIOS. Choose the option like "Save and Exit" to apply changes.

Check for a Stuck Key

  • A stuck F2 or Del key can cause the laptop to boot into the BIOS automatically. Inspect your keyboard to ensure no keys are stuck.

BIOS Update

  • If your BIOS is outdated, it may cause startup issues. Check for any available BIOS updates from HP's official website and follow the instructions to update.

Check for Hardware Issues

  • If the laptop's BIOS can't detect the storage drive, it may keep returning to the BIOS screen. Go to System Information in the BIOS and ensure the hard drive or SSD is listed under storage devices. If not, the drive may be loose or faulty.
    • Open the back cover (if you're comfortable with it) and check the connections for the hard drive/SSD.
    • If you're not comfortable, seek help from a professional.

Reset BIOS Settings

  • Reset the BIOS settings to default by choosing the option "Load Setup Defaults" or "Reset BIOS to Default" and then save and exit.

Clear CMOS

  • Clearing the CMOS can resolve BIOS issues. You can do this by:
    • Turning off the laptop, removing the battery (if possible), and holding the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
    • Reconnect the battery and try to boot again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
