Hi!

I just got the HP Pavilion x360 laptop yesterday and set it up normally. Later in the day it prompted me to install an update which I allowed but now the laptop won’t turn on. I left it overnight thinking it might just need to charge but this morning it still doesn’t power on. What can I do now?

I found some instructions in this community about pressing the Windows and B keys together + a key to turn it on and I tried it a few times, but nothing happened... the screen is still black, and there’s no sign that the computer is working - no lights, no sound, nothing.

Hi @MajaS

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That sounds frustrating, especially since your laptop was working fine before the update. Here are some troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the charger and any external devices.
  • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Plug the charger back in and try turning it on.

2. Check for Power Issues

  • If there are no lights or sounds, the battery or power adapter might be faulty.
  • Try using a different charger or plugging into another outlet.
  • If your laptop has a removable battery, take it out, wait 30 seconds, then reinsert it.

3. Attempt a BIOS Recovery

  • Press and hold Windows + B, then press the power button for 2-3 seconds.
  • Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B.
  • If the BIOS recovery screen appears, follow the instructions.

4. Try an External Display

  • Connect your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI.
  • If the external screen works, the issue might be with the laptop display.

Let me know if you need help with any of these steps! 😊
