Hi @Ms1500,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Pavilion x360 is stuck on a black screen when waking from hibernation, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Force Restart:
- Press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds until the laptop powers off. Then press the power button again to turn it back on.
Disconnect Peripherals:
- Unplug any external devices (USB drives, external keyboards/mice, etc.) and then try restarting the laptop.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable). Hold the power button down for 15 seconds to discharge any residual power. Reconnect the battery and AC adapter, then try turning on the laptop.
Check Brightness:
- Sometimes the screen might be very dim. Try adjusting the brightness using the function keys (usually Fn + F2 or F3).
Connect to an External Monitor:
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor or TV. If you see a display on the external monitor, it may indicate an issue with the laptop’s screen or internal components.
Boot into Safe Mode:
- If you can access the startup screen, try booting into Safe Mode. To do this, turn on the laptop and repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 (depending on your laptop model) until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears. Select Safe Mode and see if the laptop starts up properly.
Check for BIOS Issues:
- Try accessing the BIOS by pressing F10 during startup. If you can access BIOS, it may indicate that the issue is with the operating system rather than hardware.
Reset BIOS to Default Settings:
- If you can access the BIOS, look for an option to restore default settings. This can sometimes resolve issues related to hibernation and display.
Update Drivers:
- If you manage to boot into Safe Mode or the operating system, check for and update your graphics drivers and system BIOS.
