My computer was working fine until yesterday. However, today when I tried to start the computer by pressing the power buttong, nothing happened. I have charged the batteries and even tried with power adaptor to ensure that this is not due to drained battery. Even otherwise, batteries were running fine and gave me 6-7 hours on full-charge.
Even the boot screen is not showing up. Absolutely nothing happens when I press the power button. I am not sure what is the problem and how to rectify it. If the boot screen showed up, I could have at least tried recovery process, but with nothing showing up, I am stuck.

One possibility is that the computer is on but frozen, rather than off. It is very difficult to tell whether these tablets are: 1) turned off; 2) asleep / standby; 3) on but with the screen turned off (for power saving); or 4) on but frozen with the screen turned off. Because when these things happen, you have a tablet with the screen turned off and no other indiciations about what's going on unless the fan is running or an attached keyboard responds to keypresses.
If the tablet is frozen, you can force a poweroff by pressing and holding down the power slider/button for a long time -- like about a minute. Again, you have no indication that the tablet was actually frozen (because the screen is just 'off'), then you have no indication that you have turned off the tablet by forcing poweroff. However, after powering off, you can usually power back on in the usual way.
There could be something wrong inside your tablet. To check this, you could open it and check the battery. A PDF file of the maintenance/service guide is available on the HP web site for download. It shows how to get inside, disconnect the battery connector, etc. I recommend disconnecting the battery for a while to discharge the system. And possibly disonnect the additional small battery. Also inspect the big battery for problems. Then put everything back together and see if there is an improvement.
