My HP Pro X2 612G2 suddenly stopped charging. It was bought new in November 2017.  It will work when connected to the charger but mostly won’t even say it’s charging. It was taken to the local experts who received the message that the battery had failed and needed replacing. That was done, with  a long wait and at great expense, but didn’t solve the problem. Then it was decided the only solution was to replace board should be placed. This time a shorter wait and more expense. Now it will sometimes say “0% not charging”, sometimes “0% charging”, very occasionally “38 minutes to full charge” and once 70% not charging ( though it went back almost immediately to 0% not charging”.

The BIOS has now been updated from 01.23 to 01.27 as the update mentioned “Type C Power Controller”. This is now v7.4 but it is still not charging 😬😬😬. Other chargers have been tried but with either no connection or the same “0% charging/not charging”.

Any ideas, suggestions gratefully received before the kind and friendly local expert goes completely “up the wall” with it. He has spent hours on it now, and we have spent a lot of money, firstly on the laptop and now on new parts that don’t solve the problem.

Thank you.

The only other possibility is that the motherboard is bad.

Thank you leee488. Yes, that was also replaced 🤨 but still the same problem. (Just reread my post and realise I altered that bit but not very clearly as I left some words in from the original!)

DC jack board?

Hmmmm! Not heard of one of them but it looks like a possibility. I will suggest it to the long-suffering local expert and let you know. Many thanks.

You can Google what it looks like.

I would have replaced the DC jack board first since the part itself is inexpensive instead of the motherboard.

Thank you for taking the trouble to reply. I spoke to the repairer and he said the DC jack is all part of the motherboard on this model so that will have been replaced already.

At least the laptop works with the charger plugged in but I feel aggrieved that I paid a lot for something that hasn’t even lasted 18 months in proper working order, and there is no way of communicating with hp about it 😬😬

It’s a fabulous machine - when it works!
