Laptop cannot boot but you see lights or might hear the fan
Remove cover plate to get access to the memory. If there is no cover plate then search YouTube for a disassembly video.
Using an Air Duster, first blow out as much dust as you can before removing the memory. Once motherboard area is clean, then discharge static electricity by touching a finger to metal frame or case before removing memory sticks.
Clean the memory contacts with eraser, use air duster, reseat memory. Reseat one at a time if necessary.
Hard Reset
Hold down the power button for 20 seconds. Press one more time if necessary to start the laptop.
If it does not start then look for blinking LEDs or listen for beep codes.
If it powers up then be sure to go into the BIOS setup and press F7 or whatever function key is used to set the defaults. Set the date and time, enable secure boot, and be sure to save settings before exiting to let windows start.
