Hello, I updated to BIOS ver. 1.48 and now my battery won't charge.
I did the remove power and battery, hold on/off 15 sec. drill, no joy. Even purchased a new battery. The PB450 runs fine when plugged it but it has drained both batteries and won't charge them. Shows them at 0% available, plugged in and charging but they're not charging. I also tried removing the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" drivers in Device Manager. Still no change.
I decided to take advantage of some down time so I just replaced the HDD with a new SSD, reinstalled Win 7 pro 64 but it's still on BIOS 1.48 and not charging the batteries. HELP!
Oh, also after the Win7 clean install the HP troubleshooter states the battery is function properly but is not charged.

Update: Been trying to revert to an earlier BIOS however, despite which version I try I get the "BIOS image file specified did not pass validation" error. I've tried all the tricks I can find so far but can't get BIOS cleared out and an earlier version (which did not keep my battery from charging) installed. Win+B, USB BIOS Boot, other HP SP files via windows, HP Bios Recovery tool. NADA.
In my searching I found a log/readme file that states:
NOTE: Due to security changes, after this BIOS update is installed, previous versions cannot be reinstalled.
Which I found is actually present in most of the recent BIOS versions..
So, while it may be a clever marketing ploy to brick HP laptops and send us running out to buy new ones, I can't believe I'm not the only one who's having problems reverting to earlier BIOS versions - and speaking out about it. Also, I note pretty much every forum help request for BIOS reversion don't seem to end with Yeah, that worked!
Come on HP forum peeps, show me some love and a little help here please!
