Hi,
is it possible, to use the HP ProtectTools Security Manager with W10 with this (old) notebook? I installed a fresh W10-22H2. I want to use the fingerprint-sensor and i have install the driver for it correctly (sp47594).
Actually i have not try to install the original HP ProtectTools Security Manager from the HP-driver-site since I read here that these Manager actually don't run under W10.
I hope for goog news.

Hi:
Unfortunately, the HP ProtectTools Security Manager software is not supported to run on W10 and was superseded by the HP Client Security Manager software.
HP Client Security Manager provides enhanced Windows login and website single-sign-on capabilities. Security Manager is also the host for HP Client Security plugins, and therefore should be installed before other Client Security modules. This package is provided for supported computer models that are running a supported operating system.

It works great, thank you very much! 👍
Do you allow me another question?
LED-Speaker-Button indicates always orange
The speaker-button (on/off) indicates in normal case with the color green oder orange (red) the state of the speaker. If i start the computer it's green. If Windows starts, it changes to orange, but the speaker works fine. You can press the button and the real state of the speaker changes correctly between on and off, but the color do not indicates these states. The button works, but the color stays orange.
This is not so good, because you could accidentally turn off the speakers by touching the button without noticing it. I appreciate this indicator very much. What can i do?

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't have an answer to that question and recommend that you start a new post on that problem.
Your notebook is not supported by HP for W10 since it was made prior to 2013 and since it has the IDT audio system, I'm actually surprised the sound works at all on W10.
In W7, there is the Quick Launch Buttons software, but that should have carried over to W10 (should be a little rocket ship icon).
I that software controls the led keys.
If it did not, you can try reinstalling the latest W7 version of that software from your notebook's support page.

I had install the sp49104 (HP Quick Launch Buttons) from the original 8740w driver side and after that all LED-buttons and special functions of the function keys worked flawlessly. Expept the color of that led-key! 👍
Why do you suggest trying something from the 8440p's driver side instead of the original 8740p's side? Is that a better way? I thought the 8740p was the successor to the 8730w?
I also have two nw9440 (XP) and the 8730w (W7) and appreciate on all of them the 1920x1200 display. Today most laptops only have a height of 1080 px

There is a NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800M (driver from June 2015) inside and the audio-driver is from MS (HdAudio.sys, September 2020). Bios-Version is KBC Version 33.31 from July 2014.

I'm sorry.
I just had 8440p stuck in my mind.
It is the 14.1' display non-workstation version of yours and probably has all of the same drivers.
The Quick Launch Buttons driver from that model is the same one for the 8740p anyway, as you can see from the driver file number.
What I meant by not supported, is HP never tested or developed W10 drivers for it.
I have W11 Pro running on my HP Elitebook 6930p just fine and run W11 on all of my HP and Dell notebook and desktop PCs that don't support W11.
Here's a post that came in just a few minutes ago on how a W10 update knocked out the IDT audio in the 8440p:

...And I don't have an answer for that.

I did not set up the 8740w with W10 via inplace-update, but directly from a W10.iso Thus MS took all (newest) drivers that seemed suitable. In the case of audio, these were from 2020 and not HP-specific for IDT-High-Definition.
Reading what you write about the native IDT drivers, maybe it's not a good idea to try them if they don't work on W10?

I don't believe that the W7 IDT audio drivers will work on W10 if you just try to run the exe file.
You will get an error that states in substance that the driver is not supported.
Since I only own one notebook with the IDT audio (350 G1) and on W10 the audio driver you are using (which is the same one that Microsoft developed for that audio system) causes the audio volume to be very low.
I had to set the volume to 90% so that it provided loud enough audio that it used to produce at 20% to 25% volume.
Fortunately, I was able to use the W10 IDT audio driver from the HP 242 G2 notebook which worked perfectly (after I changed the headphones as the default audio output that it set, to the PC speakers).
I had a Dell Latitude notebook with the IDT audio and on W10, I was able to manually install the W7 driver for which that was the newest OS that was supported.
Now, I have a question for you...Can you scroll using the scrolling section of your notebook's touchpad on W10?
On my HP 6910p and 6930p neither notebook would scroll with the default touchpad driver W10 installed.
I experimented around with some other touchpad drivers and found that the Synaptics touchpad driver from the 8460p worked great on both notebooks, and allowed them to scroll, so now I use that one.
I imagine that the equivalent notebook to yours would be the 8760w if you have the same issue.

Yes, the scrolling section works perfect
I have not tested the loadness at all, but i hope, it will be good. All audio notifications of windows sounds well and load.
