Hello,
I have a problem activating the HP Recovery Manager.
Lately the program displays a screen as described above. It was not so.
I can not go back to a previous point of the system as I could before (to choose among a few steps that the system displayed to me).
Is there a way out of this?
Thanks.

Apologize for the inconvenience caused.
I completely understand that recovery discs are created by you.
- Have you tried initiing system recovery using the recovery image which you created?
- Are you experiencing any difficulties install OS using the disc? Any error?
Recovery from recovery discs (Windows 😎
Perform the following steps to recover the computer using a set of recovery discs (either CDs or DVDs). These discs can be a set that was received from HP Support or discs that you created.
NOTE: HP does not include recovery discs in the box with its personal computers as the recovery software comes on the hard drive. You can obtain recovery discs from HP Support or use Recovery Manager software to create a set of recovery discs yourself. HP recommends creating a set of recovery discs when you receive your computer and storing them in a safe place. Recovery Discs sent to you from HP Support can take as long as 4 to 6 hours to complete system recovery, but recovery discs that you create often take less time to complete system recovery. For more information about creating a set of recovery discs, see Creating Recovery Discs or Saving a Recovery Image to a USB Flash Drive (Windows 😎.
-
Disconnect all peripheral devices, except for the monitor, keyboard, mouse, and power cord. Remove media from internal drives, and remove any recently added internal hardware.
-
Insert the first recovery CD, and then turn off the computer.
-
With the computer off, press and hold the power button to turn on the computer.
-
Immediately press the Escape key repeatedly, about once every second, until the Startup Menu opens.
-
Press F9 to open the Boot Option Menu.
-
Use the up or down arrow key to select the CD/DVD drive, and then press Enter.
NOTE: More than one CD/DVD drive selection might be available from the list of bootable devices. If so, select one of the CD/DVD selections from the list to see if HP Recovery starts. If recovery does not start or a non-system disk error displays, restart the computer by pressing the power button, and then repeat these steps to select another CD/DVD drive. When recovery starts, continue using the steps to complete recovery.
NOTE: If you cannot select the disc drive from the Boot Menu, disable Secure Boot and enable Legacy Mode in the BIOS. For detailed instructions, see the Disabling Secure Boot on a notebook computer (Windows 😎 section in this document.
-
A window might display and prompt you to choose whether to run Recovery Manager from the hard disk or from the disc inserted. If this window displays, select Run program from media and then click Next.
HP Recovery Manager opens.
- Under Help, click either Minimized Image Recovery to restore only the operating system, drivers, and some software, or click System Recovery to restore the computer to its original factory configuration.
-
When Recovery Manager prompts you to back up your files, select a backup option:
-
If you have already backed up personal files or you do not want to back up personal files, select Recover without backing up your files, and then click Next.

Thank you sir for your answer.
To make it short, that was just a glimpse of the problems I have in my hp laptop (a pavilion g6-2340sj).
It crunches the disk hours over hours and does not let me even have a chance to click on the mouse...
Then it pauses somehow and let me "in" but then again....Well, I smell serious problems here..
Since I am in big trouble, I decided (if i can of course..) to recover it to the "almost" starting point when I purchased it and
prepared back then 4 DVD recovery discs ( I remember when I bought it, it came already with Office installed on it, so I believe it will be the factory configuration+Office more or less, which is fine with me).
Now, my question is : Given the fact that there is something wrong with that "Recovery manager" screen as I explained, how do i do that ?
Is it ok?: to go and reconstruct the computer to the factory configuration (I have a screen in the control panel which allows me that). And once I have that, to use my DVD's in a second phase of reconstruction ( i believe if the factory reconstruction will be successful, I would be able to get that "Recovery manager" screen properly and get on with it....
Does this sound ok, before I go on with it ?
Thanks in advance.

I am the Echo_Lake looks like you were interacting with @KrazyToad but he is out of the office today, so I'll take over from here.
I would suggest initiating system factory recovery will reinstall all essential software and drivers:
Follow the below method to inititae system recovery using recovery media "DVD"
- Insert the HP System Recovery Disc in your CD/DVD drive and restart your computer.
- Press any key on your keyboard when you see the message "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD." ...
- Click "System recovery" and then "Next." ...
- Click "Back up your files first (recommended)" when prompted to back up your data.
- Insert the recovery disc again and click "Next." If your system contains multiple recoveries
- Insert the supplemental driver disc when asked and click "Next." Some systems do not
Follow on-screen instructions to complete the recovery process.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello Sir,
Thanks for your answer. Since this is a very drastic action, i would verify some things with you :
What I have is 4 dvd discs (numbered by me 1 to 4) that I created sometimes near the very few days after the laptop was setup and ready to run. That’s it, no other discs that are related to recovery. Now:
1. Are these discs the discs you are referring as “HP System Recovery disc” on the first point ?
2. What does it mean backup your files in 4th point ? My files will be already backed up before i begin this process. As far as i am concerned you can wipe out the whole thing, just bring me back the state when i created those 4 discs. So what do i do in this step ? just carry on? an enter...?
3. I have as i said only one set of recovery discs. So please clarify point 5.
4. What is supplemental driver disc in point 6. I have no such disc. Only the 4 discs i mentioned.
Thanks.

@shmsa
To get the answer to this question, Yes! I'm referring to the same "HP System Recovery disc" that you've purchased. (which came with 4 DVD's),
First, 3 disc's are the Operating System and the rest one is supplement drivers. (you can skip the 5th and 6th point ) if your computer is not prompting.
Note: While installing the OS using DVD, please follow the on-screen instruction in order to insert and load the correct DVD disc.
Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello Sir,
I am sorry to insist that your description as I understand it of DVDs/CDs does not fit the reality which I encountered when I purchased the laptop. Let me, Sir, clarify once again :
The 4 DVD discs that I have were not part of the HP package/box that I unboxed.
As I recollect there was only the laptop, power connector, some HP documentary and a leaflet with an official long number referencing the Microsoft OFFICE 2010 that was already installed in the computer. NO DVDs/DISCS at all. I do not have even Microsoft OFFICE 2010 discs, only a long official number as I mentioned.
After unboxing and connection of power, I followed the procedures on the HP documentary, which were basically to power up the computer and it did a long setup procedure by itself until it arrived to the final ready state. That is all.
The 4 DVD's I am referring to, were bought by me (empty from the store) and created by the recovery disc creation program in the laptop that enabled ME to create them.
I hope I explained myself and extremely sorry for my disturbance since this is a one way action if you know what I mean..
