HP Stream Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Good Morning,

I have battling with my laptop for about a week.  I have downloaded the most recent copy of the HP Recovery Tool and my laptop is not listed as an option (after being forced to enter it manually).

S/N:[Personal Information Removed]

I have an HP Stream.  Model:14-cb011wm.  I have already created a partition on a USB drive to down load the software but am unable to fully down the recovery media.

Hi:

You will have to use another Windows PC with W7 64 bit or newer on it to create the recovery media using the cloud recovery tool.

According to this link your notebook is supported by the tool.

I just ran the tool for your notebook's product number and it would have let me create the media if I had plugged in a 32 GB USB flash drive.

You have to enter the product number... 5LH92UA#ABA in the cloud recovery tool's window.

Thank you for your quick response.  I attempted this and am still running into the same problem that brought me here.  I attempt to download the software to the USB drive from the tool.  I have a 128 g, USB drive.  By default the stick has 30g that is stored recovery and the primary partition.  Then there is an unallocated partition of 89 g.  I tried two different options.

1) I created new simple volume on this drive to free up the 89g for the recovery tool.

2) I also deleted the 30g primary partition and created new simple volume for the full drive.

With both options when I tried to download the software, it starts to partition the drive and reverts the USB stick back to the factory storage settings (30g of primary & 89 unallocated) causing the download to fail.

ANy thoughts?

You're very welcome.

You download and run the cloud recovery tool from a working PC.

Your stream does not have a large enough hard drive to run the tool on + download the file.

You enter the product number of the notebook in the tool's window and have a 32 GB flash drive in the PC's USB port.

The tool will download the recovery file and put it on the USB.

The tool will format the entire USB drive.

That is why you should probably just use a 32 GB one in case you can't re-use the drive once the media has been created.

You do not need to do anything else.

Did you read the step by step instructions at the link below?

I have used the cloud recovery tool to create the recovery media for two different model HP notebooks.

I used it to restore the hard drive on one of them.
