Not sure what happened the post I made early morning Saturday (US centrtal time) but since it seems to have vanished, here it is again:

 

I hope TrintySoMe stops pasting the same text into messages to everyone, I've already had the fallback to 1803 fail once requiring a recovery that doesn't work (at least for me). The advice does not work. 

 

Watching the Windows Weekly podcast a couple weeks ago Paul Thurrott mentioned something about an 1809 issue still happening (then) regarding an Intel Graphics Driver that Microsoft pushed out in 1809. There were no details and I have not gone looking for the details since we can't slipstream a new driver into the install anyway. i will look to see if a driver can be added, if anyone knows how to do this please send me a PM.

This makes it much easier to see the errors, you don’t have to manually dig through the folders to find the logs. This does it for you. If enough people run this and post the results here it might make it easier to figure out what the real problem is, also it helps make the case to HP that there really is a problem they need to fix. My instinct suggests this is a driver issue, even though it may take a BIOS update to fix it. Remember that until about halfway through the Windows Insider builds, 1809 installed and worked fine. 

 

I’ve been trying to find documentation on providing drivers for the Windows installer but don’t have anything definitive yet. If it is a driver issue and we can have the install use known working drivers for all the components we think it could be, then we might be able to tell HP and Microsoft how to fix the darn thing. The alternative seems to be waiting for HP and MS even admit there is a problem.  I think the cut and paste tone from TrintySoMe speaks volumes as to the priority of this issue to HP. Maybe MS can/will do something about this, even if it is simply to talk to the right person at HP to get something done, so I created another bug report in the Feedback hub.

Maybe it is just me. I really don't understand what those of you in this thread just won't accept what appears as me as currently obvious. Microsoft has not made manufacturers and owners happy with the lack of compatibility of Windows 10 version 1809 OS to products that were perfectly compatible with Windows 10 version 1803. 

 

Windows 10 version 1803 works fine with all of my applications and until Microsoft works out the admitted bugs in the latest upgrade to 1809 and beyond I am not going past that version.

I didn't buy my HP product from Microsoft. In fact believe it or not I bought it from HP! Microsoft does not supply the drivers and BIOS for my system, weirdly enough HP does.

 

HP is at fault for not ensuring that their high end devices are compatible with the latest version of windows. This update is now being served to users, and plenty of other manufacturers have not had an issue delivering the update. 

 

Is it wrong for me to expect my device to be up to date? That the manufacturer should be able to release updates for drivers to improve the experience of my device?

 

I have older devices that run 1809 no problem. Others have pointed out that older HP computers also run the update with no issues. 

 

HP have failed many of us by not providing any updates as to what is going on. It is ridiculous.

Ch0xx, now in China, just received 1809 upgrade in Windows Update. No joining preview program, so that may be an official update. Maybe HP has solved this problem? I will keep track of the update process.

@Erico The problem is that 1809 is no longer beta and is being automatically pushed by Microsoft to this PC. So it's an endless cycle of Windows trying to update itself, failing and rolling back, then trying again on the next reboot and failing again. Since the PC ships with Windows 10 Home there is no option to defer the upgrade. I literally do not have the option to tell it to stay on 1803 short of blocking access to the microsoft servers on my router.

 

Meanwhile, the average user who is not technically savy is running into this problem, and has not been given any notification from HP. No help articles exist explaining the problem, and customer support seems completely oblivious to the problem and asks users to perform recovery restores which will not help them.
