Doing a security check on my laptop after I recently updated to Windows 11, I checked the find my Microsoft Account devices to find that this laptop was marked up still with Windows 10, v2009 and that "Location is Disabled", so Find my Device does not work.
Location is NOT disabled, it is very much "On" in the Privacy Settings and also when I view Google Maps on both Chrome and Edge it shows my correct precise location on the map. It does NOT show my precise location when using Bing Maps - just my general area.
I've got a bunch of photos / screenshots (that were in my original post - they are gaps in this cut and pasted version) which I can't find at the moment but they basically just show on the screen what I'm trying to describe - this post has been on the Microsoft Community for ages and not a single person has responded (which is unusual) so I guess it's either not common or I'm not describing it well.
When I do a "Browser Geolocation" using mylocation.org (on Edge and Chrome) it comes up with my exact location (coordinates) correctly. So, location is working just fine in the device - this is a Microsoft or Windows problem.
I have tried just about every forum and Microsoft Support suggested resolution with no success. I have a personal, not work or school account and it's my own laptop.
I removed the device from Account. To force it to re-add, I had to sign-out of my Microsoft Account and in as a Local Account. When it re-added, the details were the same; wrong Windows version and Location Disabled.
I enabled and disabled Location Services and Find my Device with a restart between each also with no change.
I signed out again and in the Local Account, restart, check again (no change) then sign out and back in with my Microsoft Account. No change.
Device still shows as Windows 10 and Location Disabled.
What is causing this and how can it be rectified as I no longer have the ability to use the baked in function to remotely locate and lock my laptop?
Thanks for any sensible suggestions - I know that Microsoft Support (bot) will just ask me to ensure that I have the latest updates and driver installed, etc... For the record I do...

Rather spending hours and hours of looking for an answer. Please perform an CLEAN installation for Windows 11 (this will take from 45 mins to 65 mins not included download time).
1. Go to the following link to download ISO file for Windows 11
2. Mount ISO file as a DVD
3. Run Setup from DVD
During first minute or two. Please tick Keep users files/data then wait for completion.
Did you check Keep when installing Windows 11 before ?
Regards.

Hi - thanks for taking the effort to respond but I won't be re-installing Windows. This isn't a Windows 11 or installation problem. The same problem was apparent before the installation of Windows 11 while running Windows 10. I had previously done a re-installation of Windows 10.
I was hoping that somebody would actually understand the nature of the problem and have insight on a specific solution.
