Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Will not charge.  Please Help.  Computer is only 1 1/2 years old and will not charge. Works off  power cord thru usb-c plug, but will not charge the battery. Battery show 3% charge. Please help as this was a very expensive computer and cannot afford another.

I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and check if it helps.

 

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

 

If you continue facing the issue, reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager.

 

Here is how you do it.

 

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

 

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

NOT SOLVED YET!!!

 

Thought it was.  After the Bios update it did charge upto 74% and went no higher. This was good as it did charge. But, after unplugging and using for an hour I plugged it back in and it, once again not charge.  I have since re downloaded the bios and rebooted and it is charging again. Not it seems it has stopped charging at 77%.

 

So the problem must be something in the BIOS that HP NEEDS TO FIX.

Please help

Just Redid everything again and it charged up to 100%

May be fixed.

I did unplug for 5 min and replugged in and it charged!

Still having the issue of the battery not charging.

Is this something HP will correct?  Ever?

Please run a test on the battery follow the below steps to make sure it is not a hardware issue.

  1. Turn on the computer.

  2. Immediately press the f2 key repeatedly, about once every second, until the UEFI menu opens.

When the UEFI menu opens, select the diagnostic test you want to run, and then follow the on-screen instructions.

NOTE: If you need to stop a diagnostic test, press esc.

I recommend you contact support and they will assist you in ordering the battery for your computer.

 

Here is how you can get in touch with tech support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
