Spectre x2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased my HP Spectre x2 in September 2018. In January of 2019, the hard drive failed catastrophically, and after endless hours on the phone with tech support, who tried to get me to boot up in a variety of ways, all of which I had tried and none of which worked because there was NO activity on the machine at all, I sent it in for repairs. Now that it is out of warranty, two (possibly related problems have cropped up: the screen has pulled away from the backing on the left side. There is a 6" area that is 1/4" at its widest and dust, small bugs, coins, etc. can easily get between the screen and what is behind it. Concurrently (but I know that correlation does not equal causation) when the computer has been on for a few hours and not in use, I will return and get a black screen that says "Boot Device not Found." The first diagnostic test I ran returned a Failure code which this forum tells me means the hard drive is in imminent failure - 16 MONTHS AFTER A NEW HARD DRIVE WAS INSTALLED.

I'm not going to bother to fix this sorry machine. I'm going out to buy another notebook and I will never buy another HP product again. I will also make sure everyone on every HP forum knows how bad this product was.

Everything is backed up. I know enough not to trust HP.

OMG dude, I met the same issue exactly as same as yours.

The laptop shuts down very frequently in recent one month and shows like "Boot Device not Found", but I can start up later.

May I ask have you connect your laptop to another external monitor, because I have not met this issue before buying an external monitor.

Maybe it is an issue of Windows or something not related to the hardware?
