Till sometime back, facial recognition was working but now it stopped working and multiple times of troubleshoot did not help either.

The following is the error message

Facial Recognition (Windows Hello) This option is Currently unavailable

We couldn't find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face

If I run Camera App the error code is 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>

@NJMJS, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error message "We couldn't find a camera compatible with Windows Hello Face" along with Camera App error 0xA00F4244 <NoCamerasAreAttached> suggests that Windows is not detecting the built-in IR camera. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check Camera Privacy Settings

  1. Open Settings (Win + I).
  2. Go to Privacy & security > Camera.
  3. Make sure Camera access is turned ON.
  4. Scroll down and ensure Let apps access your camera is enabled.
  5. Under Let desktop apps access your camera, make sure it's also ON.

Check Device Manager

  1. Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  3. If you don't see any camera listed, look under Universal Serial Bus Controllers for an Unknown device.
  4. Right-click on the camera (if available) and choose Uninstall device → Check Delete the driver for this device → Click Uninstall.
  5. Restart your laptop and let Windows reinstall the driver.

Enable Camera in BIOS

  1. Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (press F10 during boot).
  2. Navigate to Advanced or Security Settings.
  3. Look for Built-in Camera or IR Camera and ensure it is enabled.
  4. Save and exit.

Update or Roll Back Camera Driver

  1. Open Device Manager and locate the camera.
  2. Right-click the camera → Select Update driver → Choose Search automatically for drivers.
  3. If updating doesn’t help, right-click the camera again → PropertiesDriver tab → Roll Back Driver.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  2. Click Additional troubleshooters.
  3. Select Camera and run the troubleshooter.

Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates.
  3. Install any pending updates and restart your PC.

Perform a System Restore (If Recently Stopped Working)

  1. Type Restore Point in Windows Search and open Create a Restore Point.
  2. Click System Restore.
  3. Choose a restore point when the camera was working.
  4. Follow the instructions to restore your system.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
