Hello.
I recently bought a HP Stream 11 y020nr laptop to try and service since it was having some issues. I replaced the battery which fixed the CMOS and battery voltage problems, so that’s good. But the one problem that persists is the “no boot device found” message. I initially replaced the motherboard (all storage is onboard as far as I know) because of physical defects and the board not passing diagnostics tests. The board is now fine, but as I mentioned, there is an issue booting. Both boards had the issue. Not only that, but UEFI diagnostics tells me there is no storage installed.
Some things to note/things I’ve tried:
-I’m using the most recent UEFI diagnostics on a usb since the one installed on the laptop is outdated. When testing using the preinstalled one, running a storage test immediately quits itself, as if no storage exists.
-HP cloud recovery does not work since no storage is detected.
-BIOS does not have options/settings for storage, neither does diagnostics (no firmware management option).
-I’ve tried windows 10 installation media, and can’t get past the drivers page because, there is none. Trying to find a driver on the HP website (for this laptop) didn’t work either.
-the “repair my computer” option on the installation media proved fruitless. All options including startup repair, UEFI firmware management, etc. did not work. Even the reset option (which I no longer have when I try it again) encountered an error.
-Every other component passes system tests in diagnostics, other than storage, which just tells me with a little “i” symbol, that it’s “not available”
-USB BIOS update does not work. Win + B only causes my caps lock key to blink with a longer power on time. But it doesn’t change anything. As I mentioned, BIOS and diagnostics does not have options for these either.
-F11 does not take me anywhere. Only causes the text on screen to blink.
-I tried a hard reset as detailed on the website, and that did not work.
-all components look fine physically.
There may be some things I’m forgetting, but these are all things I know or have tried. Any and all help is appreciated and will help me learn more!! I’m sure I’m missing something or doing something wrong.
