Hello everyone,
I want to use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool to create a USB recovery media to restore an HP Stream 14-ds0017nl notebook (ProdID: 1F9A2EA#ABZ) to its factory settings.

During the creation process, the software fails to download the recovery image .iso file and returns the following error:

01.png02.png

I had considered performing a clean installation of Windows using the official Microsoft .iso images, but the HP product driver page does not allow downloading any drivers or software.

I know the product is out of warranty, but the ability to obtain recovery images using the manufacturer's official software should be guaranteed over time.

I am asking HP support if I can download the image file from other sources so I can restore the notebook.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi:

If the cloud recovery tool isn't working, I don't see that you have any other option but to clean install Windows by using the media creation tool for W10 or W11, as applicable.

Most of the drivers should install from Windows update.

If there are any drivers that don't install, let me know what Windows names them and the hardware ID's for those devices.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device:

How to Find Drivers for Unknown Devices in the Device Manager

Hi Paul_Tikkanen,
The one you mentioned is the method I know I need to follow, and that's what I'll do,

perhaps preparing some debloated Windows 10 images with Chris Titus Tech's MicroWin tool...

...but I'm hoping someone from HP support can help me out with an alternative method

for obtaining the recovery image.

After all, in the past, notebooks came with recovery DVDs or partitions, or at least the ability to create them.
It would be right for this option to still be available today...
