HP Stream
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A friend has an HP Stream 14.  Is there anyway to remove the hard drive to see if data can be retrieved?  He was not aware of how to sync the data to the 'cloud'.  The laptop got wet and will not power on.

Not easily ...

From what I cound find out, your model Stream does not actually come with an HDD but instead, comes with an M.2 SSD -- which is basically a 32GB memory stick with a controller chip on it, to function like a disk drive.

In some Streams, the SSD is soldered to the motheboard and if that is the case with yours, it will be very difficult to remove without damaging it.

Then, there is the problem of recovery data -- for which you will need an M.2 SSD-to-USB port adapter, which are very hard to find.
