HP Stream 14
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I'm interested in getting an HP Stream 14 but I'm concerned about windows updates slowing it down or making it freeze due to little storage space. I'd like to keep it running quick & efficently. My questions are:

1) How often does this unit need Windows updates ?

2) Can I uninstall the old updates & then install the new ones when it's time so I don't take up all the space to keep it running

    quick & efficently ?

Please help !

Hi

It needs Windows updates as often as Microsoft deems it/them.

Buy lots of cloud storage space and an external caddy and HDD.

Regularly backup your data, and have Recovery USB's ready made.

Think about what you want to achieve, within your budget, and the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) then probably buy something a bit bigger and a bit more flexible.

I'm only going to be browsing the web, checking gmail, making purchaces, etc.,not storing much of anything.

Do I really need lots of cloud space & the externals you mentioned ?

No.

That's good to here.

So I should have room for Windows updates without affecting performance, correct ?

No.

MPORTANT:  If you will be performing recovery procedures on a tablet, the tablet battery must be at least
70% charged before you start the recovery process.
IMPORTANT:  For a tablet with a detachable keyboard, connect the keyboard to the keyboard dock before
beginning any recovery process

NOTE: If storage is 32 GB or less, Microsoft System Restore is disabled by default.

So you would want to either never need/want to be able to access/use System Restore, buy a 64 gig version or have lots of cloud storage and external devices etc to compensate (USB flash drive and caddy).

So RTFM.

Hi

My own personal circumstances would say YES it is markedly a better choice.

However I am in the UK and things can look different from here.

BestBuy I only know bad things about.

Hello & thanks.

I didn't know Best Buy was over there, even on the web. No good, huh ?

They're ok here.

Hi

Best Buy are not in the UK AFAIK.

but many posters here seem to fall foul of them.

Hence my jaundiced view.
