My HP Stream is a delight: weightless and great for internet and simple games. Don't do heavy duty computing with it.
For six weeks EVERY Windows update has been a nightmare. 4GB apparently isn't enough for Windows, making this computer either unsafe to own.
I've moved EVERYTHING that Windows lets me move to a 64 added drive, still I spend more time trying to complet updates than using.

Use another computer and create a Windows 10 usb flash installer using the free Media Creation Tool at Microsoft. At least 8gb flash drive required:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Select Download tool now, and select Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10.
-------------------------------
When the flash drive is prepared insert it in a usb port. Browse it and find Setup.exe. Click to run it and choose Upgrade.Edit: ( longshot which rarely works) Might be best to skip right to "If that fails".
If that fails you can always boot from the usb and choose Install to clean the entire drive and do a fresh install of Windows, completely updated.Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping Esc key. From the menu tap F9 key and use the arrow keys to move to and select usb. Tap Enter key.
When installing choose Custom and delete each partition. Continue with installation. It should pickup the key from BIOS but if it asks at any point just choose "I don't have a key". It will continue and should activate once you are online.

OK. After about 10 straight hours, it works. Forgot that the only thing that worked was the SECOND option, so wasted time on the first, which did some freezing. Have a printed version annotated as such and tucked in the back of my not very Everything you need to know kinda Win 10 guidebook.
Attention Stream users: go straight to the "if that doesn't work" section. And set up a Netflix series you want to binge- on tv or another device- and only check in on this between episodes. Otherwise you'll want to kill something.
MANY THANKS :smileyhappy:for pulling my socks outta the fire. Pardon me while I go catch up on all the sleep I lost during this fix.

Happy to hear you finally got it working. I added the first option at suggestion of another member-against my better judgement. I really shouldn't have added it since it rarely works. Sorry for causing you more wasted time.
I edited the Reply above to reflect your/my opinion.:smileyhappy:
