I have an HP Stream and it works well but it has run out of space to do importaint updates. I have cleared almost everything I can from it and it is still not enough. What can I do? Where can I take it?

Hi @getitschade,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Here are a few ways to free up space and install updates:

Use an External USB Drive (Recommended)

  • Windows allows you to use a USB flash drive (at least 16GB) as temporary storage for updates.
  • Plug in the USB, then go to Settings → Windows Update → Check for updates and let Windows use the USB for additional space.

Run Disk Cleanup

  1. Press Win + R, type cleanmgr, and hit Enter.
  2. Select C: Drive, then click “Clean up system files”.
  3. Check "Windows Update Cleanup", "Temporary Files," and "Recycle Bin" → Click OK.

Uninstall Unused Apps

  • Go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps.
  • Uninstall games, pre-installed software (like OneDrive, Xbox Game Bar, etc.).

Move Files to an SD Card / USB Drive

  • Insert a microSD card (if your model supports it) or an external hard drive.
  • Move documents, downloads, and media to free up space.

Delete Windows Old Files (After an Update)

  1. Open File Explorer → Go to C:\Windows.old (if it exists).
  2. Delete it to free up 5-10GB.

I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍
