There are several updates available for my laptop in HP Support Assistant.

When I download and install them, the assistant first wants to create a restore point.

The computer/assistant remains on this point and doesn't start the downloads/installation.

Hello @Filip74

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

The Windows file system could be corrupt or there is a hard disk error or undefined sofware or technical error.

Hi, @Filip74

I do not believe the HP support assistant is 'smart enough' to prompt you to turn on system protection.

The first thing to check is to make sure that the system restore utility is turned on in Windows.

For some reason as I have found out, it is not always turned on.

In the search window type in System Protection and then click on the system protection app.

Make sure that the Protection setting is 'On.'

If system protection is off, turn it on by clicking on the Configure button below that section and click the radio button to turn on system protection.
