Hello. I am having an issue with getting HP Support Assistant to work on my HP Sleekbook 14, SN [edited]. My screenshot will not share, so I'll describe as best as I can.
Download HP Support Assistant, get message that c\swsetup\sp82049\HPSupportSolutionsFramework.exe is already on computer. I had previously uninstalled Support Solutions, but it apparently re- installed.
Click yes to overwrite.
Error 1316. The specific file already exists. Click OK.
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM, or other removable disk that is not available. Insert disk and click OK. I have no Disk so I cancel.
Error 1714. The older version of HP Support Assistant cannot be removed. Click OK.
Error 1603. Fatal error, contact windows installer help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more info.
I have also looked for Support Assistant in programs to uninstall and reinstall, but it is not there.
It was on the laptop originally, but I replaced the hard drive, and can't get it to function now.
Don't really have to have it, just puzzled about the problem.
Even though it keeps saying the file already exists, it doesn't show up in Programs, so I am unable to unistall and reinstall.
Thanks!

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
That said, I'm glad you took the high road and made a wise choice,
Considering, re-installation of windows for this issue isn't something I would want to do either, although, there is a slight glitch or a program compatibility with the windows and that would resolve these issues, however, its your call and you may do it when its absolutely necessary.
If you would like to thank me for my efforts to help you,
feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on the "Accept as solution" button.
Have a great year ahead!

Hey there! @kw502bbc, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you have issues installing HP support assistant on your PC.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any software or hardware changes to your PC?
As you mentioned you have issues installing HP support assistant on your PC.
Uninstall the HP support assistant from your PC and try creating a new user account and install the latest version of HP support assistant.
Refer this article to know how to create a user account HP.
In Windows, search for an open Uninstall a program.
On the Programs and Features window, select HP Support Assistant, then click Uninstall.
Click Yes on the Programs and Features screen to confirm you want to uninstall HP Support Assistant.
Restart your computer to complete the process.
If the issue still persists try the steps recommended below and check if it helps.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, try:
1) Uninstall HP Update and HP Total Care Advisor from the program list.
2) Reboot the pc.
3) Reinstall HP Update using Recovery Manager by going to Start/All Program/PC Help and Tool and click Recovery Manager.
When the program opens go to Advanced Options, Program Software Reinstallation and go next, then next again and choose HP Update Software from the list, go next and wait for it to reinstall. Then reboot the pc.
4) Important step. You can also try this before the other steps.
Update HP support assistant using this link.
Go to start and inside the start search box type "cmd" without the quotes and right above it shows "cmd" with a black icon.
Right-click on cmd and choose Run As Administrator and the command window comes up in elevated mode.
Now type the following commands without the qoutes:
"regsvr32 vbscript.dll" and press enter, then click ok at the notification window then type
"regsvr32 jscript.dll" and press enter, then click ok at the notification window.
Then type exit and reboot the pc.

Thanks for the response! My problem seems to be the only HP programs on my installed program list is:
HP Suppport Solutions Framework
HP Detect
HP Quick Launch
HP Games
HP Connected Music (Meridian Installer)
HP 3D Drive Guard
HP Registration Service
HP My Room
HP Wireless Button Driver
HP Documentation
HP Utility Center
HP Coolsense
Many of these came about in 2015 when I had to do a recovery on the original Windows 8.1, due to a failed hard drive. To be truthful, I hadn't tried to use Support Assistant since then, so it may have already been an issue, and none of the items needed and Unistall/Reinstall are listed. I'm sure all are not needed. I'm fearful of wiping all HP programs out and starting fresh. A little over my head! Lol.

It looks like you were interacting with @A4Apollo, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,
I'm the Riddle_Decipher & I'm at your service.
I reviewed your concern and the entire conversation, did some research and here's what I need to know:
Is there any particular reason you want to install the HP Support Assistant, though everything else is working fine?
If you need it, I'm afraid you've already done all the steps mentioned so far and it contained almost everything that should have resolved the issue and since it hasn't, the last option would be to reinstall the windows to factory defaults:Click here for steps.
Keep me posted,
If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

I was thinking also that maybe it would require reinstalling Windows. I really don't use Support Assistant much, especially on an out of warranty machine. It does give some good info sometimes, but I will use as is for now. If another issue were to arise, I will do a reinstall then, if necessary. Thank you for your input. I appreciate it!
