Similar issue on my HP notebook running Windows 7 64bit, updated with all MS updates... ?

You can Uninstall HP Support Solutions Framework  and HP Support Assistant with no negative effects. I have had  problems at times with HP Support Solutions Framework causing high cpu useage. Uninstalling solved it for me. HP Support Assistant uses the framework which is pretty useless on any machine  2 yrs old since HP rarely releases drivers for it to find/install after a yr or so.
