I'll be sending in my HP laptop for a component replacement (battery) as I have had issues with it. I do have a backup device I can use, but ideally, this laptop is what I'd use. With anyone who has experiance with HP support, how long does it actually take for them to receive, fix, and re-ship the device back to the user? They quote 8-10 days, but it'd like to get the firsthand accounts of those who have experiaced HP's support. Did it take longer or shorter? Where there any common issues? What should I do should an issue arise? Thank you for the information.

Welcome to the HP Community --
One way someone else can contribute a meaningful response is if they live not only in your region / country, but they live in your city or country side area of that region.
For example, if your shipping service is provided in a metropolitan or city area, it is much different than if you live at the end of a dirt road, over a single bridge into the area, and / or where mail service is delivered once a week by covered cart.
More important --
Every system is different: Issues that arise are generally unexpected and cannot be quantified ahead of time.
Generally your point of contact is HP Support where you submit your case and where that case is accepted.
Common issues include unforeseen complications, including parts that are not available at the time needed.
What? Just because you submit a case and it is accepted, there is no correlation between that acceptance and whether the parts will be in stock at the work desk at the moment the repair is scheduled for your device.
If the existing battery is swollen, there might be unexpected damage to other components.
Shipping delays are more or less common depending on location.
Other factors might not be known ahead of time - weather, conflict, accidents, "anything" that gets in the way.
Inter-department delays can occur when a device is routed one way when it should have gone somewhere else.
Sending your computer to the repair depot for a simple battery replacement is choice.
What?
If you do the work or send the computer to a local technician, the turnaround time might be much faster.
True - If you do that, you pay for the parts and the service.
Opinion
In general, batteries are among the least expensive components to replace, even if you have to purchase the battery yourself and pay someone to do the work for you. A competent technician can do the job in about 30 minutes. Unskilled home repair might take a little longer and can be made easier by watching "how to" video(s) to better understand the process.
Sending the device for repair >> Eight to ten days is the average.
I've had systems returned in less than a week and I've had one workstation that spent nearly a month at the repair depot waiting for parts (not a battery). I live in the USA in an area where shipping service is fast and reliable.
