HP System Power State Notification error in Device manager on HP Spectre x360 still not solved by HP nor by Microsoft. The problem is that the driver is not digitally signed anymore because the certificate is expired. Thousands of HP users have this exact same problem on a variety of HP devices. This problem exists for many years now and to my astonishment no fix has been offered till this day (to my knowledge).

So HP: FIX IT NOW!

Hi @Bx360,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with the HP System Power State Notification error. Here are a few steps you can take to try to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Update Drivers

  1. HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant to check for and install any driver updates. This tool can sometimes find and install updates that Windows Update misses.
  2. Manual Driver Update:
    • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page.
    • Enter your laptop’s model number (HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-F2000).
    • Download and install the latest drivers for your system.

Step 2: Rollback Driver

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Locate the HP System Power State Notification device.
  3. Right-click and select Properties.
  4. Go to the Driver tab and click on Roll Back Driver if the option is available.

Step 3: Disable Driver Signature Enforcement

Disabling driver signature enforcement can allow the installation of unsigned drivers. However, this should be a temporary solution and used with caution.

  1. Open Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
  2. Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
  3. After the restart, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart.
  4. After the restart, press 7 or F7 to disable driver signature enforcement.

Step 4: Reinstall the Driver

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Right-click on the HP System Power State Notification device and select Uninstall device.
  3. Restart your laptop. Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver upon reboot.

Step 5: Use a Different Compatible Driver

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Right-click on the HP System Power State Notification device and select Update driver.
  3. Choose Browse my computer for drivers.
  4. Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
  5. Select a compatible driver from the list and install it.
