HP Victus 15-fb0121nr
I have a HP Victus 15-fb0121nr and I got a motherboard replacement some time ago, but not even a day after changing the motherboard the BIOS just randomly got corrupted while casually browsing. Took it back to the repair place that replaced the motherboard and he got the old bios from the old motherboard and was able to put it into the new motherboard using a BIOS programmer.

Then not even a day later after getting the laptop back it happened AGAIN, while casually browsing.

The weird thing is that the repair guy had the laptop for around 10 days and it worked fine and was just left to play one of those long youtube vids. So Idk either the motherboard is failing, from what others have told me, or it's happening due to something environmental.

Also BIOS recovery by USB doesn't work, I thought it did the first time but was just stuck on a black screen after the progress bar finished and it restarted.

Any help would be appreciated!

@m_dev0, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Test with Another Power Supply/Charger: Use a different charger or power supply to rule out power issues.

BIOS Recovery Process: Try using a different USB stick for BIOS recovery. Refer to this guide: HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) | HP® Support

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello, sorry for the late response. I tried with the battery removed, I tried with the charger removed, I tried with each ram stick individually and nothing. BIOS recovery via USB doesn't work, only thing that worked last time was using a BIOS chip programmer and getting the BIOS from the old motherboard but even that failed in the same day. Laptop just randomly BSOD'd and the annoying thing is the BSOD went away immideatly and then BIOS was corrupted, while I was watching youtube and I'm starting to think it's something enviornmental maybe. The repair guy had the laptop running for 10 days and it was fine, as soon as I got it it got bricked?
Also when the BIOS got corrupted for the second time I tried USB recovery and it worked and a black screen with a progress bar and cmd prompt type text showed up, progressbar finished and then it was just stuck at a black screen for a while, so after I had waited way too long I restarted the laptop, same thing the repair guy did aswell.

Hey @m_dev0

Sorry but I don't think HP's "remote assistance magic" will work when the laptop won't even boot to BIOS. Device is also out of warranty and has a replaced motherboard. I don't get why HP makes such things so difficult and releases unworking stuff for the public to use, from my research there have been multiple cases, past or present, where people have had their laptops bricked and have needed motherboard replacements because BIOS updates literally made for their device don't work correctly.

Anyways, thanks for the help either way.

Hey @m_dev0,

Thank you for your response

I understand your point, but remote assistance won’t help when the laptop can’t even reach BIOS.

Still, I recommend visiting an HP service center. They may have tools to recover it, even out of warranty.
