Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb2000 (9V7M9AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP VICTUS 15-fb2063DX  can't wake up from sleep so i have to always hold down the power button to force shutdown. I tried pressing on all the buttons on the keyboard, mouse, and hooked up external keyboards and it doesn't work. Everytime i pressed on the external keyboard, the keyboard lights up for a while before powering down again. The power button have this slow pulsing light and the capslock has this infrequent flickering light. I dont want to disable sleep because i want to preserve my work.

Hi @derutaderuta

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining that so clearly. When your HP Victus 15-fb2063DX won’t wake from sleep and shows signs like a pulsing power button and flickering Caps Lock light, it’s often tied to a firmware-level sleep state hang or power management conflict. Let’s walk through a few targeted steps to help resolve this without disabling sleep entirely.

Update Drivers:

  • Make sure all device drivers, especially the graphics and chipset drivers, are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Change Power Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
  • Ensure the sleep settings are configured properly, and consider setting them to "Never" temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

Adjust Sleep Settings:

  • Open Control Panel and navigate to Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
  • Click on Change plan settings next to your current power plan.
  • Select Change advanced power settings and expand the Sleep section.
  • Adjust settings for Hibernate after and Allow wake timers to see if it helps.

Disable Fast Startup:

  • Fast startup can sometimes cause issues with waking from sleep.
  • Open Control Panel and go to Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
  • Click Choose what the power buttons do.
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable, then uncheck Turn on fast startup.

Check for BIOS Update:

  • Ensure your BIOS is up-to-date, as a newer version might resolve sleep issues. You can find BIOS updates on HP's Support website.

Test with External Devices:

  • Disconnect all peripherals, restart the laptop, and try entering sleep mode again to rule out potential conflicts with external devices.

Run Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep and click on Additional power settings.
  • Select Troubleshoot and run the Power troubleshooter.

Let me know how it goes after trying these steps. You're clearly proactive, and we’ll get this sorted.
