HP All-in-One - 22-df0003w

My HP all in one computer says this device is locked by an administrator. Have any of the administrator sign in to unlock it. Whenever I go to sign in, it gives my name and ask for my pin. Whenever I type in my pen, it says the same message that it has been locked by an administrator.

Hi @Lps77,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP All-In-One - 22-Df0003w is showing a message that the device is locked by an administrator and you're unable to sign in with your PIN, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Computer

Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues.

  1. Press and hold the power button until the computer turns off.
  2. Wait for a few seconds and then press the power button again to turn it back on.

2. Use Password Instead of PIN

If your PIN is not working, try using your password:

  1. On the sign-in screen, click on Sign-in options below the PIN entry field.
  2. Select Password and enter your account password instead of the PIN.

3. Safe Mode

Try booting into Safe Mode to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. As it starts to boot, press the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  3. Select Safe Mode with Networking.
  4. Once in Safe Mode, try logging in with your password.

4. Reset PIN

You can reset your PIN if you're unable to log in:

  1. On the sign-in screen, click on Sign-in options.
  2. Click on I forgot my PIN.
  3. Follow the instructions to reset your PIN using your Microsoft account credentials.

5. Reset Password via Microsoft Account

If you are using a Microsoft account to log in, you can reset your password online:

  1. Go to the Microsoft account password reset page: Reset your password.
  2. Follow the instructions to reset your password.
  3. Use the new password to log in to your computer.

6. Administrator Account

If there is another administrator account on the computer, you can use it to unlock the device:

  1. On the sign-in screen, select the other administrator account.
  2. Log in with the credentials of that account.
  3. Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
  4. Select your account and change the password or remove the PIN.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi @Lps77,

7. Command Prompt in Recovery Mode

You can use the Command Prompt in Recovery Mode to create a new administrator account:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. As it starts to boot, press the F11 key (or another key depending on your model) to enter Recovery Mode.
  3. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.
  4. In the Command Prompt, type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each:

  • Replace <newadmin> with the username you want to create and <password> with the password for the new account.
  • Restart your computer and log in with the new administrator account.

If none of the above steps work, it might be a more complex issue, I recommend you contact phone support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
