Chrome OS

Can't recover chrome OS on this chromebook. Just stopped working one day and giving me a message 'Chrome OS is missing or damaged. Please remove all devices and start recovery.' I'm not an idiot... so I go and look up how to do this. Recovery via the internet isn't an option so I continue on following the steps for recovery via USB. Doesn't work. I don't know if I'm doing something incorrectly or what. Honestly, just pissed off about having to deal with this on a device I haven't even had for two years and getting zero help from HP. I'm not a conputer person.. I just want someone to please tell me whether I should try ship it to someone to have it repaired (I live in a very remote area) or buy a new laptop. Vomit.

Thank you!

Katy

I have exactly the same problem! Attempted recovery twice. Nothing after it tells me recovery is successful and to remove the USB - it does NOT start automatically! UNLESS the problem is both the video and input, and it is started but i cant do anything. (The latter is far-fetched. So do i attempt sending it for repair somewhere? If so, WHERE??? I should have know better than to buy HP.
