I had my computer formated and I would like to know the steps to install windows back on it

Hi:

 

The only suggestion I can offer would be to make a bootable USB W10 installation flash drive and use that to reinstall Windows.

 

You can make such a device by using the Media Creation Tool at the link below.  You will need a 4 GB USB flash drive.

 

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

 

The software will automatically work with the W10 product key in your PC's BIOS.

 

After W10 installs, go to your PC's support page to install the drivers and available software you need...

Hi Paul_Tikkanen,

 

I'm sorry for answer to this old thread. But it is the first search result for "HP EliteBook 745 G2 windows installation". I assume that other people with similiar questions will find it.

 

I did what you suggested. But the Windows 10 x64 install routine can't find the harddrive. The error message says something like 'The needed driver can't be found'.

 

Do you know which driver is needed? I allready took a look at HP' s driver download page for the HP EliteBook 745 G2. But no driver seemded fitting.

Hi:

 

Unfortunately, I don't know what driver is missing. 

 

W10 has the USB3 drivers and the storage drivers necessary to find the hard drive.

 

If you are using a DVD to install W10, you normally get 'a required CD/DVD driver is missing' due to a bad burn of the ISO file.

 

It could also be an incomplete ISO file download--even though it says download was successful.

Hi,

 

thrank you for your reply. I found a solution for that in the meantime. I simply "updated" the Win10 Iso on my USB install drive using the 'media creation tool'. It seems Win10 1709 and beyond provide the needed driver.
