About a week ago,I left my laptop open on accident for a couple hours. When I came back I closed the top and left again. When I came back it wouldn't turn on. The power button turned on, then the caps lock button blinked 3 times before the power went off. The repair company in town is wanting 180 and hour for a diagnosis before giving me a quote on how to fix it. A week later it is now not charging at all. It's the HP ENVY x360 2in1 laptop 16-ac0013dx. I use this for school and really need to know if I should try and fix it or just buy a new one

Hi @guharlaga,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that the HP ENVY x360 16-inch 2-in-1. These points may help explain what you are seeing:

  • The power button light behavior indicates general power states:

    • On = computer is on

    • Blinking = Sleep state on select products

    • Off = off, Sleep, or Hibernation depending on model

  • The AC adapter and battery light indicates charging status:

    • White = AC adapter connected and battery fully charged

    • Amber = battery charging

    • Blinking amber = AC adapter disconnected and battery is low

    • Off = battery is not charging

  • The power button can be pressed briefly to turn on the PC, and if the computer is unresponsive, HP says to press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds to turn off the computer.

  • The system guide also notes the device has USB Type-C power connector(s) that can supply power to the computer.

Based only on the provided HP sources, HP does not give a meaning here for “Caps Lock blinking 3 times”, so I can’t confirm the exact fault code from this content alone.

What you can try:

  1. Check the charging light:

    • If the AC adapter and battery light is off, HP says that means the battery is not charging.

  2. Try a long power reset:

    • Press and hold the power button for at least 10 seconds.

  3. Verify power connection:

    • This model family supports charging through the USB Type-C power connector.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
