HP laptop HP 17-CN1053CL not recognizing a hard drive during Windows 10 setup
Apparently this sleek looking little catastrophe is a retooled HP 470 G8.
Laptop is approved for Windows 11, but I have no interest in 11. HP 470 G8 is windows 10 compatible.
I contacted Amazon to let them know I wanted to return it, they said no, you just go ahead ahead and keep it on us.
Found this link for Windows 10 drivers

Any ideas on this, bios, chipset ?
Appreciate any help on this ! You can't hurt this thing because it is already junk.

Hi:
Please see this discussion for the probable solution...
Solved: Win 10 install not recognizing the NVME - HP Support Community - 8510047
HP does not support that model series for W10, so you will not find any drivers for it on the support page.
HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c1000 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support
You can try the drivers from the older model 17-cn0xxx model series.
HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c0000 Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Customer Support
Do not use any of the BIOS or firmware files.
You can try the W11 BIOS update from your notebook's support page if you feel lucky.

One little thing I notice is that the ftp link referenced for the mass storage driver seems to be dead:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp135501-136000/sp135979.exe
I tried searching just for " sp135979.exe " on google, but every result seems to be attached to that ftp site.
I use WinRAR, so extracting things shouldn't be a problem if I can get the package.
Thanks, i'm sure there is another way to get this, they might have phased out their ftp download site ! Maybe their 3000 ftp server finally died after 50 years of service.
Noticing the abundance of problems surrounding this issue, I wonder if there are win 10 install files that have this driver slipstreamed in?

I had no problem downloading the file from the link I had posted in that discussion.
I have zipped up the F6 driver folder they referenced in the HP document from the sp135979.exe file and attached it below.
So, all you should need to do now is to unzip the file to its folder and proceed with the storage controller driver installation.

Yes ! That mass storage driver trick worked. Got it in during setup and installed 10 a couple of days ago. For whatever reason, it just wouldn't recognize any audio device, so finally had the bright idea to order a $20 USB soundcard from Amazon, just slapped that on tonight and have audio. Sorry to be so long in replying, but had other projects and didn't get to this until just recently, but really do appreciate your help.
